NHL Draft Day

Well June 21 was the NHL Hockey Draft and I was intrigued to see if any trades would occur and I was curious who was going to get drafted. So it started out to be an interesting day and then it turned into a a sad day. Roger Neilson Assistant Coach for the Ottawa Senators lost his courageous battle with cancer at the age of 69.

It got me to thinking how fragile life can be and that we need to enjoy life to the fullest. My Mom passed away from cancer and she was only 65, such a young age when you really think about it. With the advances of modern science we still have such a dreaded disease that is so devastating to our society. We can only hope that the miracle breakthrough happens in the near future and no on else has to die from cancer ever again.

Another great hockey man, coach and mentor Bob Johnson (Badger Bob), who we also lost to cancer in 1991 had a saying which I always find appropriate

“It’s a Great day for Hockey”
