I am not sure how I really feel about the Olympics coming to my Backyard Vancouver/Whistler. I really did not really want the Olympics to come to Whistler as I see our taxes going up and the cost of living in the Lower Mainland will rise. Over the weekend I stayed in Vancouver in a hotel and we had a discussion about how much it would cost to stay in the same room before during and after the Olympics. We came to a consensus that it would become prohibitively expensive to stay in most Hotels in Vancouver.
This would be a small part of the higher costs which the local citizens will have to pay for the infrastructure that will have to be put in place to make the area ready for the games.
It is exciting that the Olympics will be happening locally but I am still not sure if the costs will be make it worth all the effort.
