A Sad Day

I was watching a hockey game on Monday night when the announcer let the audience know that Phyllis Gretzky had passed away from lung cancer at age 64. Even though I had never met Mrs. Gretzky I felt as if I knew her from all that I had read and heard about Wayne and Walter and the Gretzky family. I read Walter’s biography and have read a lot about Wayne. Throughout all that has been written one constant remained throughout, Phyllis was always there to keep them grounded and make sure that the right things happened. She has been described as Canada’s hockey mom but besides that she was a Mother.

A death at anytime is very sad but especially at this time of year. To lose your mother or father is difficult no matter what age you are when they pass away. You only have one father and one mother and you should cherish the time you do spend together as the relationship with your parents is unique.
The world has lost a great person and I am truly saddened by this loss.

I send my heartfelt condolences to the Gretzky family.
