Vancouver Motorcycle Show

I went to the show on Sunday Jan 29th and was surprised by how many people were at the show. Now it was a rainy Sunday but I think it shows the popularity of bikes and that they have moved to the mainstream. It was pretty much what I expected, the big companies had pavilions showing off their 2005-06 bikes and some of the local companies showing and selling biker gear as well.

While there were alot of nice bikes on display I found a few which really had me salivating, BMW’s K 1200LT a beautiful Tourer which I could just picture myself driving. Also the Honda Shadow which just fit me like a glove and the Kawasaki Vulcan was a beaut. Having said all that those of you that know me know I was born with Spinal Bifida and this has affected my left foot so having to change gears is not a good idea.

So even though I would love to ride one of the bikes I know better and wanted to see the colection of big scooters that available. Kawasaki, Honda and Yamaha all make scooters which are between 250 and 650cc. I had previously done some research and knew about the Honda Silver Wing and the Suzuki Burgman. I was pleased to see them at the show so I could have a closer look at each one. I was surprised to also see the Yamaha Majesty and Piaggio X9 both of which had some nice features. Each of the scooters look similar and do not look like a typical scooter they have larger tires and streamlined bodies with large seats comfortable for extended driving. My favourite is the Suzuki Burgman 650 I felt very comfortable and it would be a bike that I can ride without any issues.
