Persistence or Harrassment

For some strange reason I felt that this was something I should put out there and see what kind of feedback I get…if any. Just to put things into perspective I will explain a bit, my home phone is really only in existence for emergencies and potential job interviews. Neither of which happen very often and my home phone may go for more than a month without receiving a single call. Any calls that come in on my land line are either someone trying to sell me something or someone wanting a favour from me. Because of this I do not pay attention to my land line unless I am expecting a call so I tend to either miss the calls or I will call screen using my Call Display.

Over the past week a single number keeps calling and I will admit the first 8-10 times I genuinely missed the calls as I was either out or otherwise indisposed and not able to answer the phone. I have noticed in the past that these particular calls hang up after a certain number of rings and never leave a message. (Mostly these are dialed automatically so they are programmed to hang up before the answering machine kicks in) Also in every case the calls stop after a certain number of unsuccessful attempts. After the first number of calls last Friday, the calls started again on Monday with 5 on Monday, 4 on Tuesday, more on Wednesday and Thursday until I caught a call on Thursday night at 7:30pm. The call was from my friendly telephone company Telus and according to them I was a very special customer. So special that they had to try and call me more than 20 times within 5 days.

The call was about adding to my service so like I said someone trying to sell me something. I guess I wish I was not so special.

I use to do tele sales in high school. It sucks to be the caller on the other end too, lol. But when they call you tell them you want them to remove your name from there list. BY LAW they must if they ever call back you cal sue them. Once you tell a few companies they really start to slow down I find…well in Canada at least. Try it sometime :)
