That it seemed familiar but you couldn't place it leads me to believe you need to remember something. Seeming small compared to objects like chairs and counters may indicate the memory is from early childhood. Is there perhaps a certain food your mother used to cook that you don't eat anymore and miss? However, doing all that work to climb up and then finding no way back down is an indication of feeling that you are "in over your head". In trying to recapture something from your youth you feel you are empty-handed and have no way back? Perhaps the unfamiliar house represents a feeling of being an outsider in some fashion, and the smallness the feeling of powerlessness in that situation. Hope these help.
