30 Years On Elvis
August 15, 2007 | Category: Personal, Random Thoughts
It was 30 years ago tomorrow August 16th when the King of Rock and Roll left us. It was a shocking day and I do remember where I was and what I was doing. Strange but it does not seem like thirty years and yet so much of life has happened to prove that thirty years has passed since that day. I am a fan and have been since I saw the Aloha from Hawaii concert live on television in January 1973 at the age of 8. I was in Germany at the time and my Mom woke me up to watch. At the time I cannot say what hooked me but the music and his persona were certainly mesmerizing. One regret I do have is never being able to see Elvis live in concert which was where he worked his magic.
Something I need to do is a pilgrimage to Memphis and visit Graceland. I still listen to his music and when I hear the American Trilogy I get goosebumps and can picture Elvis on stage singing one of the songs I would consider a signature piece for him.
Wow it is hard to believe he has been gone for 30 years, his music will live on forever.

It would be surprising to him, I think , and JimMorrison to come back and realize that their legends have still lived on.Wish they could know that.
Hmmm Jim Morrison and Elvis, can you imagine the band they have wherever they are….John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix Bob Marley among others.
I agree with Ms Mouth, in that I wish they could come back and see. They’d probably laugh it off wondering what the fuss was about and snort coke on some chicks’ tits.
