Hockey Night in Canada The Musical

If you have not heard and that is possible, CBC lost the rights to the theme for HNIC (Hockey Night in Canada). Because of this they have created a contest to search for a new theme song. Entries have come from far and wide and run the gamut of styles and levels of sophistication and presentation. A friend of mine has entered a song.

Check it out.

You Never Know…

With all the ups and downs in the financial markets recently and with companies like Lehman Brothers and AIG in major financial trouble it got me to thinking. This reminds me of a couple of books I read over the past few years including Tom Clancy’s Debt of Honor which portrays an attack on the US and the West which includes bringing down the stock exchanges.  Interesting idea and it will be interesting to see what the results of the investigation are or if they are even released. Food for thought.

Special Dates

Some dates have special meaning for different reasons. We have wedding dates, birthdates etc etc, you get the idea. Two dates are special to me August 15th and September 14th, seven years ago I lost my parents, my Dad on August 15 and my Mom on September 14th. I am never sure what my state of mind will be or what I will be doing on those days. One thing I do on these days is take sometime and think about them. Today I spent a quiet day at home and after dinner as I sat outside with Tara I started to think about them and realized Tara was 6 years old when they left us. I also realized I have done a lot with my life in the last seven years and have changed a great deal. I would like to think I have done some good things which would make them proud and even though they are no longer with us I believe they are a part of me and hopefully make me a better person.

Pooping Machine

Ok so maybe this is not the most appropriate subject or the most appealing but so what.

Not that I think about the subject but recently I was thinking for someone who is so small and weighs so little she sure does poop a lot. Tara weighs less than 10 pounds but she produces quite a bit of poop, each trip out she goes and will go multiple times. So my question is where does it all come from because she does not eat that much and as soon as she is done eating she has to go out. Not much storage space so where does it all come from.

Silly, Yet Interesting

1. Put your music player on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question.

NO CHEATING

What does next year have in store for me?
I’ll Stand By You (The Pretenders)
Hmmm we’ll see.

What do I say when life gets hard?
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (The Beatles)
Sounds like violins to me.

What do I think when I get up in the morning?
Amazing Grace
Amazing that I woke up…

What song will I dance to at my wedding?
Kids in America (Kim Wilde)
It’s got a beat.

What do you want as a career?
Smoke on the Water(Deep Purple)
I am always in search of the perfect beach?

Your favourite saying?
My Immortal (Evanescence)
I am going to live forever?!?

Favourite place?
An American Trilogy (Elvis Presley)
I kinda thought my favourite place would be an exotic beach on a island somewhere but I cannot argue with Elvis. So maybe my favourite place is Memphis you know Graceland where the King lived?

Where’d you go for a road trip?
Go On Your Way (Fleetwood Mac)
The song tells me to go my own way so I would say where ever the road takes me I will go.

What would you listen to while driving?
California Girls (Beach Boys)
Depends on what she looks like I may listen or I may not.

Broken Record

Not that I want to sound like a broken record but I cannot beleive how busy the last several weeks have been. After working the full Labour Day weekend I figured things would slow down a bit. No such luck, last weekend on Saturday was our company golf tournament and on Sunday I had to go into town to have dinner with my boss so no downtime for little ole me.

Now this weekend our facility is on alert as one of our customers has a facility in Texas in the path of Hurricane Ike and we may be tasked to deploy equipment to ensure they are up and running as soon as possible after the storm passes. This means we spent a late night last night getting the equipment ready and now I am on standby to goto Texas with the equipment at a moments notice. Oh well I am always up for a road trip. I hear Texas is nice this time of year  ;-)

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will get to stay home and avoid this road trip.

Sad Realization

The past few weeks I have been working long hours and most nights been at work after everyone else has left. On Friday I was in my warehouse checking a few things when I looked around and realized not only was I alone but if something were to happen no one would know anything happened until Tuesday. While this in itself is sad the saddest part would be Tara would be alone for 3 days and probably not make it.
