Molson Canadian Hockey House

By Anthony, Monday, February 22, 2010 11:30
It just seems like yesterday but it was a week ago on Saturday February 13th where I found myself wandering downtown Vancouver taking in the sights and sounds of the Olympics. The plan was to wander until about 3pm then head to Molson Canadian Hockey House to watch Canada’s Women’s hockey team take on Slovakia. After the game I was to enjoy Barenaked Ladies no they were wearing clothes, yes really I am telling you the truth. :-)  I had decided to get a VIP pass to enjoy some extra hospitality and I am glad I did as I was sitting right in front of the stage and the service was very good. As soon as I found my seat I was approached by one of the many servers who introduced herself as Emily and a beer appeared in front of me almost instantly. During the night it seemed anytime I was thinking I was thirsty there was Emily with another drink for me. Very impressed with the service and attention to detail.

After about an hour I noticed a commotion behind me and turned around to see the Premier of British Columbia  Gordon Campbell going through shaking hands. Later I noticed a lot of flashes going off and I turned to see none other than The Great One Wayne Gretzky entering and sitting 10 feet away from me. He stayed for a little while and then exited to another large cheer and many cameras going off. Being a VIP is pretty damn cool, you never know who you are going to see. The concert started about 9:30 and went to about 11:15pm with the guys playing some of their new stuff and of course the hits. I am not sure who was having more fun, the capacity crowd or the Ladies but they definitely put on a great show. Very unforgettable experience and a great way to enjoy the Olympics. Pictures coming soon.

Sunny Days

Well not quite if I look outside but it is 11 days until I head for the Sun. My cruise out of San Diego leaves in 11 days. Did I say it is only 11 days till my cruise. Not that I am counting as the Carnival Website provides a countdown for me, now isn’t that a great service. Carnival is in the Eastern time zone at Midnight it is 10 Days!

Life is Funny

By Anthony, Monday, November 9, 2009 9:58

It is hard to believe we are in November already. It seems like yesterday that I booked my December cruise and in less than 3 weeks I will be sailing to the sun for a week of relaxation. While the last few weeks have been a very difficult time for me I know a relaxing break will help me get refocused and start to move on. Life is not the same without my little buddy to take care of and to give me a reason to go home. But I know over time I will get past this and I think the cruise will be part of my therapy.

This will be my third cruise and I have started to believe this is the best way to vacation and probably my first choice in the future. Not sure if I will try other companies or stick with Carnival which so far I have enjoyed the experiences and the prices make it very affordable. Not sure what is on the horizon travel wise but I can foresee another cruise in the spring to maybe the Caribbean or the Bahamas.

My New Toy, Yes Another One

By Anthony, Wednesday, August 19, 2009 9:45

I recently got a new laptop to replace my dependable Compaq R3240. It took a lot of time for me to decide what would replace my beloved and well used Compaq. I was very worried I would be disappointed but am happy to report that not only am I happy with my choice, it has surpassed my expectations. My new Laptop is a Lenovo T61, Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz with a 15.4″ screen and an NVidea video card.

I was originally going to install Vista but since I have been testing Windows 7 decided to give it a whirl. It installed seamlessly and I found all the required drivers. Overall a very nice system, runs all my software without issues including some games I could not run on my old Compaq.

Now Something to Think About…

By Anthony, Tuesday, August 18, 2009 10:03

I have been collecting Air Miles for several years and have finally surpassed the 10,000 mark. Normally I would use them as fast as I would collect them so it was difficult to accumulate a good number. Now that I have all these Air Miles I have to find a place to go. Cannot let them sit there getting lonely so I am in trip planning mode again. Now where to go, so many choices…..

Another Year Gone

By Anthony, Sunday, August 16, 2009 4:08

As I sat thinking about the date and the Hope Classic which was held yesterday I all of sudden had a realization that yesterday was the anniversary of my Dad’s passing. I have been so busy lately that I have had no time to reflect. Not sure if that is a good thing or not. I usually take some time to reflect but I am disappointed that the date completely escaped me. I guess what they say is so true “Life goes on”
