Travelling Man

What is a guy to do, I had been planning for another cruise and was about to finalize the arrangements when my traveling companion had to back out. Now I have these great plans and no one to go with me. Oh well I guess it is back to the drawing board. That is the tough thing about being single, the world of travel is not always that friendly to the single traveler. I checked with the cruise line to see what would happen if I traveled alone and the answer is I would have to pay double to travel alone. Guess I either find another travel companion or figure something else to do instead of taking a cruise. I am not into all-inclusive resorts so I will have to see what else I can do.

Spring is in the Air…Hopefully

Seems like we are getting teased with the weather. We have had a few days of sunshine but for the most part it has been rain and grey skies. Even though I have lived in this area for a long time it seems I get to a point where I have had enough and want or need some sunshine and warm weather. Today I started trolling travel sites looking at places which are warmer and normally the sun is shining. I found a few places to my liking and then I started looking at cruises and now I want to go on another cruise.

So I have two problems, where to go and who wants to go with me? I could go out of Florida and goto Jamaica, or maybe somewhere in Mexico or how about the Bahamas? Another choice would be to head out from California and head down to the west side of Mexico. When I travel I like to go places I have not been before as I enjoy exploring new places. Still there are lots of places I have not been and I need to strike them off my list. Maybe I should create a bucket list of places I want to visit. So this leads me to the other question, who wants to go?

Mmmm Cruise

Just over 6 days until I set sail for the Caribbean not that I am counting but I cannot wait. Something I am really looking forward to is the food which runs the gamut from quick buffet style to the full dining room sit down meals. Normally we will partake in the full dining room experience and something I discovered which I cannot get enough of is Strawberry Bisque. It is a soup which is served cold and it has strawberries mmmmm strawberries. I absolutely love strawberries and could eat them for every meal. Cannot wait to enjoy some Strawberry Bisque. So delicious and probably not good for me but it has strawberries which is a fruit so it cannot be all bad.

Countdown is On

The time has just flown past and in 9 days I fly to Miami Beach and in 10 days I will be sailing around the Caribbean headed for exotic locales including the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos. Umbrella drinks, palm trees, exotic blue waters and bikinis. Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm! Did I say Bikinis

My Year in Review 2010

As my birthday has just passed I started to think about the last year and how quickly it has passed and how much has happened. I have written previously about my job and some of the changes that have impacted my life. One of the things which I had to do was put my life on hold and I was not able to travel. Not being able to travel for leisure is probably had the most impact on my well being.

Next year (that is 2011) I have a cruise planned for January and now I have been asked if I want to goto Paris in April to spend a week with a friend. So far I think 2011 is looking up for me.

Travel Dilemmas

Not that I am able to travel at the moment but I have certainly been looking at places to go and things to do. As I am totally busy at work I cannot really get away at least until August or September so I am in planning stage for a trip to somewhere. I was thinking of taking a cruise out of Mobile or New Orleans but I have two problems, the oil spill may cause some issues and more importantly I have no one to go with me. As cruise lines like to fill the cabins if I go alone I will have to pay for two people even if I go alone.

So I decided to look at other options and see what I could do by myself but what I am finding is the costs do not compare to some of the prices for cruises which includes meals and a bed. If I goto an all-inclusive I will pay 2,3 or more times the amount I will for a cruise and not sure how much I would enjoy it. Could go on a road trip but again the cost and the fact that I want to relax so I think road trip is out. Then I thought about a stay-cation which has some benefits, not really what I had in mind but worth a look I guess. Arranging a vacation should not be this hard or this much stress. Oh well I will figure out something as I need something to look forward to sooner rather than later.

Sunny Days

Well not quite if I look outside but it is 11 days until I head for the Sun. My cruise out of San Diego leaves in 11 days. Did I say it is only 11 days till my cruise. Not that I am counting as the Carnival Website provides a countdown for me, now isn’t that a great service. Carnival is in the Eastern time zone at Midnight it is 10 Days!

Life is Funny

It is hard to believe we are in November already. It seems like yesterday that I booked my December cruise and in less than 3 weeks I will be sailing to the sun for a week of relaxation. While the last few weeks have been a very difficult time for me I know a relaxing break will help me get refocused and start to move on. Life is not the same without my little buddy to take care of and to give me a reason to go home. But I know over time I will get past this and I think the cruise will be part of my therapy.

This will be my third cruise and I have started to believe this is the best way to vacation and probably my first choice in the future. Not sure if I will try other companies or stick with Carnival which so far I have enjoyed the experiences and the prices make it very affordable. Not sure what is on the horizon travel wise but I can foresee another cruise in the spring to maybe the Caribbean or the Bahamas.

Who What Where When?

Great intentions do not make up for no posts. So what have I been up to? Well went on the cruise in early May and then got lost in work and life. The cruise was great, it is hard not to enjoy yourself when you are waited on hand and foot. I have a few pictures which I will post, I promise really I will post soon. We enjoyed the cruise so much I am thinking of doing another one in the fall. With the price so reasonable it is hard not to think about another one. Next one I think will be to the Caribbean in October-November, a good time to go south I think.

As Time Passes

As I get ready for my upcoming cruise, wherever we end up at least we are going on a cruise. Due to the Swine Flu issue in Mexico our ship will not dock in Ensenada and at this point we are not sure what the itinerary will be for our cruise. All I know is that in 4 days I will be enjoying an umbrella drink and looking forward to a few days of relaxation.

Today I received my new custom built ankle brace so we shall see if this will help me walk better. I am hoping to see some improvement over the next few months otherwise I will be back at the doctor and the alternative is not fun. The new contraption is pictured below

Now back to packing, I will post some pictures from the great adventure soon.
